Paula Faircloth

(To Wake Up and Make Love With Me.)

Sometime in the 90s,
When the Spice Girls ruled,
Paula played in girl bands,
And hit in mass at school.
Rehearsed in a convent,
Learnt at Drumsense HQ,
She played for Prince Edward,
With a blind bassist too.

When all that were through,
Things took an ‘eavy turn,
With a band called Axewound,
And metal drumming learned.

Ow, wake up and hit drums with me,
Wake up and hit drums,
Wake up and hit drums with me,
I don’t wanna make you,
I’ll let the rhythm take you,
And you’ll wake up and hit drums.

Now complicated rhythms,
Give her sticky thrills,
Add a hint of afro-Cuban:
That’s drumming for Quadrilles.
This helicopter pop band,
Counts in 7s more than 8s,
Likes playing pubs and picnics,
Festivals and fetes.

They also do weddings,
But not till mid next year,
As Paula’s off on tour,
Filling you with cheer.

….Ow, wake up and hit drums with me,
Wake up and hit drums,
Wake up and hit drums with me,
I don’t wanna make you,
I’ll let the rhythm take you,
And you’ll wake up and hit drums.

Paula has been drumming in a diverse assortment of bands since the age of twelve. She has spent the past three years tapping intricate rhythms to curious melodies in math-rock band Quadrilles, gigging across the UK and releasing singles to critical acclaim.
